So much to do...so little time

This week has been full of activities. We went on a little field trip to an olden days park/farm. Helen brought along some fika (tea and cake) and the girls (Fanny and Alina) enjoyed showing Saga all of the animals. She really liked the hens, I think due to their colors and that they moved around a lot. Then on Wednesday the girls stayed the night. We sat out in the tepee and made smores and drank tea. It was really cozy. The next morning they blew bubbles, which Saga loved to watch float to the ground. We also thought we would try and see if Saga would like to finger paint. It didn't go very well or last very long. Maybe we will try again in a few months. Her favorite thing to do this week is crawl up to the window underneath the bed and pull herself up, which is very easy for her, and look out the window. Then it's really fun to plop back down on the pillows.

It's been 5 years!

I thought I would reminisce with a few random pictures from our wedding. Today is our 5 year anniversary. Looking through the pictures was really fun. SOme people look so different now and others look exactly the same. I wouldn't change anything that has happened these last five years, I've enjoyed it all. I couldn't figure out how to make the picture the right way since they were on a disk. When you click on them to make them bigger I'm sure you can turn them the right way.

Here's the video we took yesterday of Saga. Read below to find out more details. Axel's speaking Swedish, if you were wodering why you couldn't understand:)

She's everywhere!!!

Now that she has the crawling down, Saga would like to stand up, by herself. It is so cute to watch her work so hard to pull herself up. I'm shock by her balance, she rarely falls. We've had two really funny things happen so far with the crawling-standing phase. She crawled over to the dust pan, and I heard a bang only to look around the corner and find Saga's face covered in dust and yuck, and in her hand a big pile of dirt. Can't leave that hanging around anymore. The other funny thing happened last night while Saga was refusing to go to sleep. I ended up putting her in her crib because I just couldn't handle her crawling all over me in the bed and pulling herself up on me. She was protesting for a bit but then it was quiet. When I peeked into the room I saw her standing up in her crib with her mobile around her neck. She lifted herself up right under it, dangerous I know, but so funny. Time to take the mobile off the crib and to lower the mattress. Eating is going a bit better now. She loves to help by putting the spoon in her mouth and biting on it. Those are sweet potatoes that I made for her last night. It's actually quite easy to make baby food. She's had apples, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, mango, avocado, bananna, and parsnips.

Crawling!

I've been reluctant to say it but it's true. Saga is now crawling. Her favorite place to crawl to is Axel's dirty shoes and to the computer cords. I'm not sure how much she actually likes crawling. I think it is still pretty hard for her to do. Another week of practice and she'll be EVERYWHERE!

The Weekend!

We had a very busy weekend. On Sat. we woke up early and headed up North to Töre, where Axel's grandma lives. We needed to water her plants and take in her mail, since she is at the hospital. Then we visited her at the hospital, and we are pleased to report that she is healing nicely and will be home soon. Next stop, Överkalix Market! It's a big street fair full of stuff that you don't want to buy but it's fun to look. Axel's grandpa lives in Överkalix so we saw him as well. Saga enjoyed riding in the pack on Papa's back. In fact, she fell asleep even though it was really warm outside. She stayed surprisingly cool back there. We headed home on the back roads through Axel's hunting grounds, Saga and I slept. Sunday was another beautiful day so we thought we would go out on the boat with Axel. He said he would clean out some grass from the water in front of the conference center down the road. So we piled into the boat, along with the stroller because Saga and I were going to walk home, and headed off to check out how much grass there really was. It ended up being a bigger job then expected, but Axel worked on it for almost three hours and then decided he needed to call the guy and explain the situation. It's impossible to do with such a small boat, call someone else! Saga and I walked home and along the way she realized that she can turn over in her stroller and look out the front. I was not happy about that and tried to turn her over but she just wanted to look out the front. So it looks like laying down and sleeping in the stroller has become a past time. She wants to sit up! Yesterday we were home all day and today we are heading to town to meet some friends at the library. Grocery shopping is in our future as well. I'm off to take a shower since Saga is sleeping. Have a nice week!

What a Week!

It's Friday night and to say the least, I am tired. It all started last Sat. with Axel's grandma getting into a car accident. We went and saw her on Sunday. Even though she broke a rib and her collar bone, she was in pretty good spirits. On Tuesday morning Saga woke up with a high fever. All she wanted to do was sleep and when she did wake up she was grumpy and just not feeling well. It's so hard to watch your child be sick. I was on the internet trying to find a "cure" or a "diagnosis" for her fever. By Wednesday night she was feeling much better. She was back to creeping all over the bed again and trying to crawl up on top of me. Yesterday we went went into town to meet up with an American woman and her baby. She was so nice and we got along so well, too bad she is moving to the south of Sweden at the end of August, typical. Then we headed to the hospital to visit with mormor, grandma in Swedish, because we hadn't been there in two days due to Saga being sick. So, now it's Friday night and Saga finally fell asleep, at 10:30. I'm going to follow her as soon as I upload this video of Saga in the bath. She is really starting to wonder where things or people go when they disappear from her sight. I am acting like an idiot again, what we won't do to make our children laugh. Enjoy!

The first week of July has been very busy. On Monday we went and visited some new friends that have English as their native language. The girl in the picture with Saga is actually one of my old students from last Fall. Then on Tuesday we went and listened to Fanny and Alina sing at the park in town. We met some other friends there which we haven't seen in a long time. The first half of the week was unbearably hot but has cooled of since then and now it's raining. Saga has gotten herself a new highchair which she seems to like pretty well. It's time to put the swing away, because she is almost throwing herself out of it now. Papa and Saga were looking at maps and planning their next hunting trip tonight. The plan is to keep her up until 9:00 and see if she can sleep most of the night. Axel's grandma got into a car accident today, but she is doing fine and nobody was badly hurt. Tomorrow we are going to visit her at the hospital.

Still sleep deprived!

Saga seems to be still on Eatonville time, because she doesn't get tired until around 12:30 A.M. Yesterday she fell asleep at 10:00 P.M. and I was so excited. But she tricked me and fell sleep late again last night. We've been busy this week. On Sunday we went to IKEA. There is a picture of Axel holding Saga, who is sleeping, in front of the Ikea sign. I've been putting Saga in her crib more because it's the only place where I can leave her for a while if I need to do something. I've also been putting her in it late at night when all she wants to do is crawl around the bed and bother her sleeping daddy. Last night she put herself to sleep in her crib. She woke up at 3:30 and then I brought her to bed. I think she feels like a prisoner, because she pulls down her bumper and looks around for me. Arvid and Helena were here this week. It feels like we didn't get to see them much but did spend a nice night with Helena while Axel and Arvid went fishing.
Last night we went on our first family boat ride. I felt like it was really bumpy but Saga didn't seem to mind. She slept the whole way there, we visited some friends out on an island, and the whole way back. I think we need to invest in a bigger boat if we plan on doing that more often. Yes, we had a life jacket for Saga, for those of you that were wondering:) Saga's new favorite things are dogs. I took a video of her talking with Killer and Texas. She loves to grab at them and pull their ears. That's it for now and hopefully next time I write I will be fully rested.
