Christmas 2007

Things have been VERY busy here. We had a great Christmas and really enjoyed spending so much time with the family. Christmas Eve was spent playing games and eating Chinese food (a new tradition). Then on Christmas morning we went to my grandparent's house for presents and breakfast. Saga opened a few presents but found that it was more fun to watch her cousins open theirs. Saga got her first baby, which she loves to kiss and carry around. My parents bought me a massage gift certificate, which I used today and left Saga home with grandpa. She didn't fuss at all, yeah!! Christmas dinner was at mom's house. You can see the picture of the HUGE roast Dan cooked. It was so GOOD!!! We also had baked potatoes and a few salads, yummy. We are thinking so much about our family back in Sweden and want to send out love to farfar.

Fun at the cousin's house

We are trying to spend as much time as possible with everyone. Yesterday we walked over to my brother Jim's house to play with Celia, Jacob, and Grace. Grace has a little pink chair that is just Saga's size. She loved to sit in it but didn't want Grace to sit in it with her. Grace has been really gentle with Saga, and they enjoy being with each other.

Grandma's tree

Saga has spent many a hours picking the ornaments off of the bottom on the Christmas tree. If you look closely you can see that there seems to be a few too many ornaments in a few places. That's due to the movement of the ones that were in Saga's reach.

The rocking chair!

Saga loves climbing into the rocking chair and climbing down from the rocking chair. The last picture is cute because is shows how she DOESN"T LIKE to sit in the chair just likes to stand.

Quick update!

Things are getting much better with Saga. My mom has actually gotten to hold her now, and I can leave the room without her having a bit fit. She's taking a liking to my grandpa which is very sweet. The weather here is awful, rain and wind, yuck! That hasn't stopped us from going outside. It's the easiest way to get Saga to sleep during the day. It seems like things are getting back to normal. We are both exhausted by 8:00 and are up and moving in the morning by 6:00. Can't wait for the weekend when we can spend some time with my family. I haven't uploaded any pictures today but will do it soon.

We made it!!

It's Sat. morning at 5:30 am and I have finally found time to update the blog. The trip really couldn't have gone any better. Saga was a champ!!! The flight from Lulea to Stockholm went great, and we had an empty seat next to us which is a huge help. When we got to Stockholm we saw that the flight was delayed about a half hour. That was pretty scary because I didn't have that much time in Copenhagen to transfer. The delayed was only about 15 minutes, and Saga fell asleep in my pack right before we got on the plane. She slept the whole flight to Copenhagen thanks to my ability to tell the stewardesses that I am not going to wake up my daughter to put a stupid seat belt on her that is totally worthless. They came back 3 times to tell me to put it on her and when I refused to comply they said, "Then you must take full responsibility." NO PROBLEM!!! When we got to Copenhagen I learned that the flight to Seattle was full, no empty seats to be had. I really wanted an empty seat beside us, so I was a bit disappointed when they couldn't help me out. As we were standing in line to get on the plane I heard my name over the loud speaker. They said they were going to change my bulkhead seat. I was at first a bit worried that they were going to take away my good bulkhead seat, but to my surprise they had THREE empty seats together and they were mine!!! WHAT LUCK!
Saga was very well behaved and enjoyed playing peek a boo with the boy that sat behind us. She finally fell asleep around 8:30 pm and woke up around 10:00 pm and that is ALL she slept the whole flight. Seeing mom and Dan was a relief. I just thought "we made it". Saga isn't really sure what to think about everything here. She is very attached to me and doesn't seem to be warming up to anyone very quickly. I'm sure it will just take a few days, but it's rather draining for me. Nobody can hold her or get too close. It must be very confusing for her to be somewhere she doesn't recognize with a BUNCH of people that just want to play with her and love on her. WE are happy to be here and feel excited to spend the holidays with my family.

Visiting friends

We went over to our friend's house to say good bye before our big trip. It was really cute to see Elin, who is three months older then Saga, and Saga walking around together. They have the nicest cat in the world, she lets then chase her and pet her without any fuss.

The red moose(from IKEA)was a big hit!

Snow pictures

I was seeing so many people with pictures of their kids in the snow when WA had the big snow storm and it got me thinking, I've never even put Saga in the snow. So we went out to see what she thought of sitting in the snow. It was fine for a few seconds that then you can see from the pictures that it wasn't at all fun.

Silly Saga Pictures

Saga has figured out how to stick her finger in her nose, very interesting. She also love to play with the red beads that mom gave us last Christmas.

Being sick is no fun!

Here is our sick picture. Saga and I both had the flu last week. Axel was kind enough to stay home and take care of us. Saga didn't want to eat anything but breastmilk and I didn't want to eat anything either but needed to keep my strength up. I'm happy to say that we are fully recovered now!! Axel got just a twitch of it on Friday but was feeling well enough to hunt on Sat.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wish we were there to celebrate this lovely American holiday. No, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving in Sweden, for those of you who were wondering, hahaha. Miss you all and eat a little extra for us.

Night on the Town!

Last weekend we went out to dinner with the whole family. We were celebrating Helena's (Arvid's girlfriend) mom's birthday. The food was great and the company was even better. Saga did so well at the restaurant. She would crawl around and look at the people in the other room. They all thought she was so sweet for peeking at them. Of course, the night couldn't end perfect. Saga slept on the way home and didn't want to be moved from her car seat to the bed, SO we were up until 12:45 A.M. Other then that it was a great night.

We've been busy as usual this last week. Mon., Tues., and Wed. we go to different playgroups. The one on Wed. is an English play group that I organized. We bought a new armour from IKEA that Saga loves to crawl into and talk to herself (it echos). Last night I gave her a half of avocado to keep her busy while I made dinner. She thought it was o so much fun to squeeze and suck on. She sure was a mess but that's why one has a washing machine I guess.
