Chopping Wood!

We weren't sure why Saga thought it was so fun when Axel was chopping the wood, but we couldn't resist to share her laughter with you.

Axel's 29th B-day Party!!

Axel's real birthday is on Sat., but he is going to be gone that day so we switched it to yesterday. I spent all day baking a traditional Swedish birthday cake and an Oreo chocolate cake. His family came over along with a few friends. Axel wanted a knife sharpener, and that is what he got! The box was just the right size for Saga to pull herself up on. We spent the whole evening watching her play on the box. Today, Friday, we are heading up to one of Axel's hunting areas to stay the night. It's our first real overnight adventure in the woods with Saga. Hope all goes well!!
O yeah, there is a picture of Saga's first tooth in there. It's not easy to get a picture of, but I did my best.

50th B-day Party!

Axel's aunt turned 50 a couple of weeks ago, she's the one shooting the bow (blond hair, blue shirt), anyway, the family threw a little party which included dinner, cake and some competition. There was boot throwing, Axel's dad is throwing a boot in the picture, bee bee gun shooting (Axel's other aunt is shooting the gun) and airgun blowing. I wasn't really clear on who won but fun was had by all. Saga slept in the pack as I watched the games. She wore her pretty party dress that Aunt Nanci gave her and even got to try some of the yummy food. It was a nice evening and always fun to see Axel's whole family.

I thought it was time for Saga to try some blueberry puree. She loved it but found the most pleasure in feeding herself and throwing the bowl on the floor. The picture of my feet shows me cleaning up the mess. Next time we have blueberries I will take charge and refuse her the spoon:) Last weekend was crayfish time. Every year Axel's family and some friends spend the evening fishing crayfish and then the next day they have a party and eat the crayfish. We usually don't stay the whole time but just drop by to see how it's going and have some fika. They caught over 200 which is plenty for the party.
On another note, Saga went to the Dr. on Tuesday and now weighs almost 17 pounds and is 26 inches long. She's also advanced for her age, that's what the Dr. said! She's healthy and happy, which is all we care about.

Blueberries and the Beach

I left Saga with Axel one night and went blueberry picking up behind our house. As you can see I picked some beautiful berries. Behind me you can see the new walkway we put in this summer. It needs to settle, and then we will put in nice gravel on top. The weather has been really warm here so Helen decided we should go to the beach. It was a lovely place but having a crawling baby at the beach is a lot of work. She wanted to be in the sand, which translates to...sand in mouth. Saga enjoyed the water and watching people splash in the water. Next year she'll be able to play in the sand!

Bug bites... black and whites!

This week was filled with trips out into the woods in which Saga got many mosquito bites. The forest is full of blueberries right now and we hope to go out more and pick some. If anyone knows of any natural mosquito repellent let me know. I also found the black and white option on our camera, yeah!! Saga is continuing to crawl and pull herself up. I couldn't resist taking this picture of Saga's butt, so cute!!
