Mid-Summer

Mid-Summer Day!

3:30 A.M. shot

Well, we made it back to Sweden after a long trip sitting next to a man who didn't like children. It's 3:30 in the morning here, and we (Saga and I) find ourselves wide awake and irritated because we want to sleep but can't. It's so bright outside that I covered our window but that doesn't seem to be working. I added a picture that I took just a few minutes ago to show you how light it is at 3:30 in the morning. Despite our lack of sleep we had a nice mid-summer. This is a big holiday in Sweden and luckily the weather was beautiful. There was lots of eating and dancing around the mid-summer pole. Saga fell asleep twice during the festivities but while awake enjoyed looking at the flowers and grabbing at the new puppy. My time in the U.S. went by so quickly. We miss you and can't wait to see you again soon. As of now I don't want to travel anywhere but those feelings will fade with a few nights of sound sleep.

It's sad but true, we leave for Sweden in 3 days. The time here has gone by so fast. It could be due to the fact that we have been so busy. Last week was full of graduation and birthday parties. My dad and his family came over for a visit, which was nice. I have a sister that is almost 3 years old. It was great to get to know her a bit and to watch her and Grace play together, they're the same age. My Aunt Nanci was also here from Connecticut for a few days. She's a lot of fun and spent some quality time with Saga. Then on Monday I headed up to Bellingham to visit old friends. I had a chance to see a bunch of my old workmates from Sunnyland Elementary. Saga slept all the way up to Bellingham and all the way back. She's such a great traveler. My hope is that she is happy on the plane this time because she is moving EVERYWHERE!! If something is out of reach she finds a way to creep over there and get it. Mind you, she just turned 5 months on Tuesday, yikes! We have had a wonderful time in Eatonville and can't wait until we come back in December.

This week was filled with visits from Amelia and Sarah, two of my college roommates. We had lunch and talked out on the porch all afternoon. Then Daniel came home to a house full of people. My brother Jim and his wife are both out of town so we are taking care of their three kids, Grace, Celia, and Jacob. Needless to say it has been very busy here, and Saga has enjoyed all of the attention. I am very surprised at Saga's ability to move herself around. When we arrived here a little over two weeks ago she was very happy to just lay on her stomach. Now she is pulling her knees up and pushing herself forward. She lands on her face because she hasn't figured out how to move her hands yet, but I have a feeling it won't be long. I can't leave her unattended on the bed anymore, darn!!

Fun in the Sun!

I've finally found time to write a little recap of our week. Monday was Memorial Day and we had a BBQ at my grandparent's house. My friend from college, Robin, drove down to Eatonville for a visit. It's always fun to see her. The weather has been beautiful mid 70's and warmer, which means we have been outside a lot. Saga loves to feel the grass and lay on a blanket in the shade. It's a great place for her to practice her pre-crawling moves. Stephanie and Terrace came down again and stayed the night. FUN FUN FUN!! For the most part we go on lots of walks, usually to grandma and grandpa's house, and then just hang out with the family in the evenings. We send out a HEJ to everyone in Sweden, and we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
